Our Junior campers recently went mining for gems, right here at Future Scholars! Students dug, raked, and sifted through sand to find all sorts of treasures, including gems, gold, and stones. This activity was such a hit that we decided to give students a chance to go mining again! This coming Friday we will have a drawing in each Junior Camp classroom where one student per room will get extra time at the mining tables and get to take even more treasures home with them!

Our Senior Summer Campers have been busy on field trips, but one highlight so far was their trip to Sahara Sam's earlier in the month. With the hot July weather, a trip to the indoor/outdoor water park was just what they needed!
Summer Camp has been a blast so far! Our Juniors have gone on two of their field trips so far this summer and each one was a fun learning experience! On July 1ST, students from Rooms 10-12 learned all about wildlife at Paw's Farm Nature Center in Mt. Laurel. Students got up close and personal with animals including a hedgehog, a guinea pig, and a chinchilla. After seeing the animals, everyone ventured outside to visit the larger, outdoor animals and to have some fun with dramatic play in the children's grocery store and veterinary clinic. This Wednesday, July 15TH, the Juniors headed out on their second field trip--to see Beauty & The Beast at the Ritz Theater in Haddon Township. The show interactive and the children had blast watching the play and getting involved in the storytelling. Three of our students had a chance in the spotlight-- Cameron (Room 10) got to get on stag and was serenaded by the audience for his upcoming birthday; Domenic (Room 10) got on stage to teach the actor playing the Beast how to do a scry roar; and Josiah (Room 11) wore a rose-covered vest and played the role of the rose bush during the play.
This month, our students enjoyed a delicious and patriotic Cooking Class--American flags made out of graham crackers, whipped cream, red licorice strips, and blueberries! Yum!
We hope everyone has a wonderful holiday. Future Scholars will be open regular hours tomorrow, Friday July 3RD. Last week our Pre-K and Kindergarten students graduated after a year of hard work! We are proud of everything Rooms 6 and 12 accomplished this year and we know these students will go on to do great things! Everyone is more than prepared for Kindergarten and First Grade in September. Check out more photos of Graduation 2015!
